IBM i
IBM's integrated operating system for IBM Power servers, descended from OS/400 and commonly still called AS/400 by long-time users.
IBM i is the operating system, database, runtime, security, and middleware stack that runs on IBM Power servers. It is not the same thing as the hardware. This distinction matters for Power 12 planning because application continuity is mostly an IBM i and Power ISA question, while sizing, memory, I/O, and support windows are hardware-generation questions.
