AIX is IBM's enterprise UNIX operating system for Power hardware. In Power 12 planning, AIX matters because IBM's cross-generation Power compatibility story is not only about IBM i. Many Power estates run mixed IBM i, AIX, Linux, and VIOS partitions on the same physical systems.
