Open Memory Interface (OMI)

OMI

IBM's proprietary high-speed serial memory interconnect, replacing direct DDR signaling, already used in Power10 and Power11's DDR5 DDIMM memory.

OMI supports up to 32 DDR5 ports per socket versus 8-12 with conventional direct-attach DDR, and can reroute around a failed memory lane instead of losing an entire channel -- a reliability advantage central to IBM's RAS-first design philosophy. Expected, but not confirmed, to continue into Power12.
