The IBM-founded (2013), now community-governed foundation that licenses the Power Instruction Set Architecture (ISA) royalty-free to outside implementers.
Now counting more than 350 member organizations, the OpenPOWER Foundation is the institutional structure within which any future Power ISA change -- including a Power12 chiplet transition -- takes place, and the clearest evidence of IBM's controlled-openness design philosophy.
